I feel so lucky to be able to have witnessed this lunar eclipse of May 26th, 2021. The event was spectacular! I mentioned it to all that I knew in hopes that more and more people would be able to see what a show a lunar eclipse can be.
My husband and I stood out in the dark at 3:30 a.m. with two of our RV work camp neighbors and smiled and chatted while we watched the moon slowly slip into this darkness of Earth’s shadow. It brought up a conversation about what past humans could have thought if they also saw such a thing. Most argue they would have for sure seen it as a bad omen, the moon goddess being angry and leaving the sky. I imagine that perhaps it could have also been seen as something new and good in the sky. New beginnings of something, or the start of a new kind of cycle in our spirits.
As the moon started to hide behind the clouds we climbed up a hill to catch more sight. Then the red-orange moon came back out to let us see the change. This started us talking about being lucky enough to be in the right spot at the right time. Of all the places to be we all got to be on the West Coast and able to see the full eclipse when others only got a partial. How much of life is just timing as opposed to our choices? They must be intertwined more than we know. Our choices putting us in the spots we end up at during the time we are there. I hope everyone ends up where they are supposed to be, doing what they are supposed to be doing, in that spot they need to be doing it.
Embrace the shadow, sometimes this is what will lead you to where you need to be.
